The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth, so help me God!

I think the current administration and the Christian RADICAL Right has taken this to a scary place.

I come at this with a unique perspective. In my days as a straight man (I know what some of you are thinking because you have said to me, "How could you have ever passed for straight ya big fag?") I found conservative Christianity a safe place to find. Mostly because of it's black and white nature. It was easy. Cut and dried if you will. I had no choices, all the answers were in the book. So I have been in the belly of the beast... some would say deep in the belly.

Well, I am here to tell you, all the answers are in the book, and in studying it, I was forced to live in a TECHNICOLOR world that isn't all easy peezy with all the choices and decisions made for me. And what a BEAUTIFUL world I live in; all the color and all the beauty that is inclusiveness.

It scares me that dialogue is gone from the American experience. It scares me that the God I know is big enough to include differing points of view on many things, and the God that is in vogue is so small that there isn't room for women in the pulpit let alone gays, Buddhists, and Muslims or anyone outside of Christianity.

I heard a comment on Monday, from an evangelical preacher John Hagee who was asked by Terry Gross on Fresh Air about Jewish people and the rapture, to which Hagee responded that some Jews believe in Jesus so they were safe. I don't know how Terry didn't leap over the table and strangle this guy. That he runs around with the title Christian like I do, makes me ill. And this is a preacher tied closely with the current administration.

How can anyone have a dialogue when one side thinks they that THE ONE AND ONLY TRUTH?? What happened to our constitution? If the Democratic Party doesn't simply run on the theme "Could we please have our constitution back?" they are missing the boat.

Sunday Mornings Are Best!

So I was just checking in with Kenneth's blog and Kristin's blog both of whom are much funnier than I am; I thought I should weigh in on a couple of things.

The Amazing Race... I, like both of them, am in LOVE with this season all ready. Welcome back AR! I can only hope that Team Peg Leg will meet some delicious demise that includes her pledging her undying love to him and him telling her how cute the model boys are. One can only hope.

I do love the Kentucky couple as well, but I have loved Kentucky people for a long time... Bob the Tomato for example, one of my great friends is a Kentucky boy and there is a Paducah family that I enjoy so very much. So go Kentucky!

Can we please, please STOP having the annoying gays on American television??? Good grief, why do producers feel compelled to find the most girlish, campish, men to represent our community. Most of us are like the Bears in the Little Terra Cotta House on Del Vale, pretty normal people who sit home and watch TV at night and think about crafts and going to the county fair. We often say we are what the extreme Right is most afraid of.

So here I sit on Sunday morning, with the dog chewing on yet another dry bone, publishing my thoughts for the world to read. How 21st century is that? Oh I forgot, I am drinking a latte brewed from Ethopian Super Natural coffee from Peets... if you haven't tried it... hurry down and get you some... it's DELICIOUS!

The Gay Un-friendly Skies

Okay... So this is not what I was going to write about today, but I can't resist.

I read today on Advocate.com that a gay couple was threatened by an American Airlines crew, including the captain, for being affectionate with one another. The article in the Advocate, points out over and over how low key the two were, but I don't really think it is that important if they were low key or not. Unless they were having sex in the seats, I think they have every right to be as affectionate as they want.

How many of us have been in public where a straight couple is all but having sex? That is somehow okay, but god forbid that two men or two women (wait two women would probably be okay because that would be sexy) make out in full public view???? I am OUTRAGED... Yet again.

Well I suppose in this new USA where there is only one truth, we must expect this. What's next, separate restrooms and drinking fountains for us? Oh wait... That's been done all ready.

In the beginning...

Well, I am not sure how this will work for me, but it seems to be a sign of the times. So here goes...

It is Monday, 18 September, 2006 and I have just returned from Seattle for the weekend. I am once again reminded as I clear security and fly home, how I don't feel any safer today than I did on 10 September, 2001. That is not to say that I don't feel safe, in fact, I do. It is merely to comment on a feeling that we aren't safer, dispute no shoes, no water bottles, no shampoo, no shaving cream and no dignity.

I also remain amused at the folks that just don't get how to clear security in a timely manner. I was sitting in front of a man who claimed that it had taken 60 minutes to clear security. I checked in and was through security for the same flight in 15 minutes. That is checking in and clearing security. Seems odd.

So there are this architect's ramblings for today. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
